Abstract
With comprehensive sponge city construction in Beijing, rainwater storage ponds have been increasingly used in urban stormwater management, and has emerged as among the most significant source control facilities. However, these facilities are characterized by a large number, small individual storage capacity, scattered locations, with issues such as lack of coordinated operation and insufficient automation capabilities. To meet the need for refined management and control of sponge facilities, smart regulation technology of rainwater storage ponds has been developed, centered on numerical simulation and logical algorithms, with integrated online sensing and Internet of Things (IoT) devices to design scheduling strategies tailored to actual operational scenarios. Data demonstrate that application of this technology can achieve a peak reduction rate from 4.5%-100% in the drainage network and up to 11.81% in sub-catchment flow, to effectively enhance performance of rainwater storage ponds, and provide new approach for intelligent operation and management of source control facilities.
