The application of mathematical model in the planning and design of stormwater pipe network

  • In response to the limitations of traditional methods and the potential design risks, based on the planning and design basic parameters of stormwater pipe networks, a practical and operable technical application plan for model-assisted planning and design is proposed. This plan includes three parts: model-based pipe network design standard evaluation, bottleneck section analysis, and urban flooding prevention evaluation. Through these steps, a more comprehensive evaluation of the drainage capacity of the stormwater pipe network system can be conducted. Case studies have shown that the model-based pipe network design standard evaluation can verify whether the pipe network system meets the predetermined design standards. By simulating design rainfall scenarios under different recurrence interval, the corresponding recurrence interval for the drainage capacity of each section of the pipeline can be determined. Secondly, bottleneck section analysis can locate the main problem sections. This helps to prioritize the development of adjustment plans. Finally, the urban flooding prevention evaluation can locate the "short board" sections in the system. This helps to take appropriate technical measures against "short board" sections, thereby improving the urban flooding prevention capabilities of the entire pipe network system.
